An acoustic panel is often mistakenly called as a soundproof panel. Bear in mind that the main job of this panel is to absorb sound not to block sound. When it comes to acoustic panels, there are many types from different kinds of companies. The most common materials are the timber and fabric. Yet, you have to choose stuffs based on the environment you want to create.
One of the best functions of an acoustic panel is to improve the definition of the room and to control the low-frequency range. It will make a room quieter and less disturbing to neighboring areas. Remember one more thing, acoustic panels are not soundproof. Acoustic panels seem to have soundproofing effect when put in a space where there are serious acoustic issues but they are not soundproofing panel itself.
Here is a thing, you do not have to fill all the areas of your room with acoustic panels to make great effects and you do not have to make a room treatment that is too expensive. What matters most nowadays is a budget, so go for cheaper ways as possible as you can. Every bits and pieces of acoustic panel being placed in different corners of the room have different results. Do observe and see what sounds best for you.
- When a room is empty (no acoustic panel)
If you consider silently analyzing acoustics in an empty room you would probably react on how the crappy and air-bleeding sounds spreading around. The sounds are bouncing everywhere, the loud echo and reverberations are creating havocs in and out the area.
- Putting 8 bass traps in each corner
When you put 8 bass traps in each corner of your room, you can create a little bit difference. If your room has four corners, put 2 bass traps on each corner and observe how it absorbs sound. The effect may be a little bit boring but it reduces the sound from roaming.
- When there are 8 bass traps plus 14mq ceiling panel
By putting bass traps in each corner, the low frequencies hiding in the corners are being hit. This can be better when you put some panels above the head as well. It will produce a sound that is a lot more satisfying than those rooms with no acoustic panels at all.
- The addition of 20mq more panels to the walls
This is where the sound reaches your desired clarity and efficacy. A room will not be totally filled with panels by adding additional 20’s but the sound produce is totally great.
These tricks will help reduce sound waves and absorb sounds more effectively to prevent from leaving. A solid, carpeted or fabricated floor still matters here. Bathing your room with acoustic panels won’t work if your floor does dull or chiming sound.
Building an effective room treatment on a budget can give you an amazingly great result. When it comes to recording room, you don’t necessarily need to spend too much cash all you need is just a mind that is smart.
